RBS Traffic Circle Named for Zevulun Hammer z''l
Keren Or, 12 January 2007

Zevulun Hammer z''l, former Deputy Prime Minister and Education and Cultural Minister who passed away nine years ago, will now been honored with a local traffic circle named in his memory. The municipal names committee decided that as "a scholar and intellect, a man of vision and action," the Minister should join the list of respected names that streets and traffic circles in our city bear: Jabotinsky, Ben Gurion, Ben Tzvi, Eshkol, Sharett, Begin, Rabin, Gandi, and now Zevulun Hammer, z''l. On the 29th day of Shvat (he died on the 22nd day of Shevat), city dignitaries, including Rav Shimon Biton, Mayor Daniel Vaknin and other honored guests, will dedicate the circle in his memory.
The traffic circle that will bear his name is located adjacent to Beit Sefer Etrog, a religious public school in RBS. This location was chosen since the Etrog School embodies his religious Zionistic beliefs and is an appropriate memorial to his dedication to education. One of the guests at the ceremony will be MK Zevulun Orlev a close friend of Hammer who today continues his legacy.
